This week Microsoft has officially signed off the final bits of Windows 8.1 and sent them off to PC manufacturers. Shortly after we started to see leaks everywhere in differents shapes and forms, but the good thing about them is that they opened a window for us to see what to expect on October 18th, which is when Microsoft will finally make available the new version of the operating system worldwide.
I was able to published a video tour of Windows 8.1 RTM build 9600 (the English version), which walks you through the most relevant changes you’ll find in the OS.
In the video you’ll notice that Microsoft is bundling many new apps, such as Help + Tips, Skype, Reading List, SkyDrive, Health & Fitness, Food & Drink, and many more — for a complete list, check out this previous article: Apps and services bundled in Windows 8.1, Skype is also included.
Also PC settings has been re-done and now you can find all Windows settings in the Metro-styled version of Control Panel. The Start screen has new live tile sizes and many new options, the Start button makes its return, but many will argue that it isn’t the same. In the video I also go briefly on some of the pre-installed apps like the new Mail, Help + Tips, SkyDrive, Windows Store, and Internet Explorer 11.
If you’re in Windows 8, you will definitely see many new changes and features, and for those running Windows 8.1 Preview will notice some minor improvements. Enjoy!
