Microsoft Patch Tuesday, September 2013, has 14 updates and no firmware for Surface

MS Windows Update Tuesday

Today is Patch Tuesday, September 2013, and Microsoft is rolling out a total of 14 vulnerability fixes. Four of these new patches are for Windows 8 and three are Windows RT. Surface RT and Surface Pro don’t get a firmware update month.

Out of the four new updates for Windows 8, three are marked as Important, and one is marked as Critical and is for Internet Explorer 10.

Windows RT on the other hand gets two Important updates and one Critical that also aims to fix IE10 like in the full version of the operating system.

The remaining patches are for Microsoft Office software including Office 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, Office for Mac, and other products.

In Patch Tuesday, September 2013, the software giant is also making updates available for Windows Server products, Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

The rollout will start soon, I’ll be updating this article as more details become available. Remember that you can update manually by going to the Control Panel, clicking Windows Update, and then clicking Check of Update, or you can wait to the next restart and they will install automatically.

Oh! And it seems that Windows 8.1 Preview is getting two updates:

  • KB2870699: Cumulative security update for Internet Explorer 11
  • KB2880289: Update for vulnerabilities in Adobe Flash Player in Internet Explorer 10.
