Do you want to see what makes Surface Pro 2 tick? This is your chance, the guy from iFixit got their hands in one of the new Microsoft tablet and took it apart so you don’t have to.
They started by removing the Surface Pro 2 new kickstand and after removing the screen using a big heat gun, getting access to the components was quite easy. iFixit notes that everything looks pretty much the same (visually, not components) as the previous version with the difference of a new motherboard shape. Of course, it wasn’t really easy to poke around the components without getting the 52 screws out of the way.

Once inside the device you can see specific components such as the Intel Core i5-4200U CPU, Novatek NT96132QG, Marvell Avastar 88W8797 Integrated 2×2 WLAN/Bluetooth/FM Single-Chip SoC, SK Hynix HFS128G3AMNB 128 GB mSATA 6.0 Gbps SSD, and many more.
iFixit gave the Surface Pro 2 a repairability score of 1 out of 10, which means that the tablet is really, really, complicated to repair. There is over 90 screws in total and there is also too much adhesive, which make almost impossible to replace anything and the display is fused together with the LCD — so good luck trying to replace the screen of a cracked Surface. The good news, though, the battery and SSD can be replaced.
