Three days after the Surface Pro 2 launch, Microsoft is already issuing the first firmware update for its second generation professional tablet powered by Intel’s latest Haswell processor.
The update described as Surface Pro 2 firmware and driver pack, is a cumulative package that includes drivers for all the components and updates that have already been released for Windows 8.1.
The update being released today is a bit odd, because today isn’t Patch Tuesday and this is a manual download from the Microsoft Download Center. This is because not every Surface Pro 2 owner needs to install this update. This firmware and drivers package is useful to repair a custom installation of Windows 8.1 Pro on a Surface Pro 2 or to prepare a custom image to deploy on an organization.
