Microsoft finally is rolling out a new update for its Bing apps and making official the rebrand to MSN apps. Although the company promised to bring the new MSN apps to iOS and Android, today the updates are aim to Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone apps.
Although the new apps have been rebranded, the new MSN apps are powered by Bing search technology to provide content relevant to you. Moreover, the new updated apps and the recently new MSN portal homepage works together with the new apps. Meaning that the experience will follow you on every device, in the apps or website, as long you logged in to your Microsoft account.
The new rebrand strategy from Microsoft doesn’t only remove some of the possible confusion because of Bing being a search engine and not a content provider, but it also will help Microsoft to reach out 425 million users around the world and to boost the MSN brand in the process.
The MSN apps rebrand update comes right on time when Microsoft is about to announce Windows 9, and it is also planning to introduce a new name for its operating system.
The updates reflecting the new changes are available immediately for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone, they will update automatically, but you can always head over to the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store to force the process.
