Microsoft delivers on the promise of more frequent builds, as today the company rolls out Windows 10 build 10049 to the fast ring of updates. The new update comes only days after build 10041 was made available to the Slow ring.
The software giant is including various important fixes in the new build, but perhaps the biggest surprise in Windows 10 build 10049 from the fbl_impresive channel is that Microsoft is finally adding the first preview of Project Spartan browser for all Windows Insider to try for the first time.
The new build is available immediately and you can install it onto of your current installation of Windows 10. However, because is not a final product, it’s not recommended to use this software as your primary operating system.
Here is a list of fixes included in Windows 10 build 10049 since build 10041:
- The software maker fixed the issue from Build 10041 for when the Photos app on your PC crashes when you tap on the circular icon at the top left to view the photo you just took.
- The company also fixed the issue from Build 10041 where you might end up in a state where windows open on your desktop are accidentally visible behind the Start Screen, Task View, Snap Assist, and when rearranging windows in Tablet Mode.
- You will no longer get stuck when you manually lock your PC (Windows Key + L) during the initial out-of-box experience.
Instructions
To download build 10049, go to the Settings app, navigate through Update & recovery, and go to Windows Update. Then click on Advanced options, under “Choose how previews builds are installed”, change the setting to Fast. Finally go back to Windows Update, click Check for updates, and the new build will download and install automatically.
Users you shouldn’t have much issues getting build 10049 installed, but if you run into any problems, be sure to leave us a comment with the details.
The new build of the Windows 10 has released to the Fast ring of update, as such there is no ISO download for build 10049 until Microsoft makes available the bits to the Slow ring.
Update, March 31, 2015: If you’re having issues opening Mail, Calendar, People apps in Windows 10 build 10049, you can use this previous workaround.
