Microsoft is building two high-end Lumia phones for Windows 10

Windows 10 for phones

The Lumia line is just about to expand with two new high-end phones designed for Windows 10. Microsoft is currently working on a device codenamed “Cityman” and another high-end device codenamed “Talkman”. The news was first reported by Unleash The Phones and it seems that Microsoft is taking a page from Apple’s playbook by making two devices that feature larger displays, but the tech specs are pretty much the same.

The Cityman will focus on offering the larger 5.7-inch QHD display, a Qualcomm octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and 20-mgapixel rear facing camera. The information currently available indicates that Microsoft will opt for a removable cover to access the battery and microSD slot.

Perhaps, the most interesting piece of information is the Cityman is the first handset we hear supporting the new Windows 10 Continuum for phones that literally converts a phone into a full flesh PC when connecting an external monitor, keyboard and mouse.

The Lumia Talkman is the smaller of the two, featuring a 5.2-inch QHD display, a Qualcomm hexa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 20-megapixel rear facing camera.

As you can see both Lumia phones are very similar on tech specifications, they will both include a triple-LED flash to add support for different tones on pictures and 5-megapixel front facing camera, but while both devices share common tech specs the major difference is the processor.

Microsoft aims to launch Windows 10 sometime in the summer, but it will only ship the new operating system for desktops, Windows 10 for phones will ship on a later date. In addition, like Windows 10 for desktops, Windows 10 for phones will be offered as a free upgrade for Windows Phone 8.1 users.
