How to remove Facebook News Ticker [Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera]

Facebook - News Ticker

To remove Facebook News Ticker from your profile there are different ways to do this depending on which web browser you use. In this article I will show the different methods you can use in Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera; Google Chrome being the one with more options.

As you may have already noticed, there is a big number of new changes on Facebook — and more are on the way –, one of them is the introduction of News Tickers, which essentially is a new way to establish a real-time conversation with your friends — to learn more check out this previous article –. Now, the problem with the new changes is that as good as the company may think they are, the reality is that not everyone is going to like them. So in the case that you find out that News Ticker is bothering you, at the right side of your screen, don’t feel you were left on the dark; here are several ways to deal with this situation.

Removing Facebook News Ticker

The simplest way is by using AdBlock Plus on Chrome or Firefox, and then just add the following custom filters in the preferences of the extension.

Remove Facebook News Ticker

After refreshing your new Facebook profile, News Ticker should be removed and it shouldn’t bother you anymore.

If you are a Google Chrome user there are several more ways to do it: You can install the Facebook News Ticker Removes,that removes this feature instantly or the Unannoying Facebook, which removes the news feed as well as the pinned bar on the top. Both web apps are available in the Chrome Web Store. Or in the case you are using Better Facebook extension, you can copy and paste the following CSS options in the Advanced Options Mode. Note that Better Facebook is also available for Firefox, Safari and Opera.

/* Hide Facebook live ticker */
.ticker_stream { display:none !important; }

And the last way I have found to get rid off Ticker is by using FB Purity (if you like to keep things clean on Facebook) that is available for Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera.
