It's now time to update. Windows 10 gets security patches and fixes for a number of problems.

As part of the August Patch Tuesday, Windows 10 is now receiving update KB4034674 for PCs and mobile devices. This new update doesn’t bring new features or big improvements, but it addresses a few issues with the Creators Update.

KB4034674 bumps the version number to build 15063.540, and according to Microsoft, it fixes a particular networking issue, policy problems Mobile Device Management, and it brings security patches for Microsoft Edge and other Windows components.

What’s new on Windows 10 15063.540

Microsoft has announced KB4034674 in its support site, and it’s referred as “August 8, 2017—KB4034674 (OS Build 15063.540)”. If you’re already running the Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) on your PC and phone, this update will only address these issues:

  • Addressed issue where the policies provisioned using Mobile Device Management (MDM) should take precedence over policies set by provisioning packages.
  • Fixed problem where the Site to Zone Assignment List group policy (GPO) was not set on machines when it was enabled.
  • Addressed issue where the AppLocker rules wizard crashes when selecting accounts.
  • Fixed problem where the primary computer relationship is not determined when you have a disjoint NetBIOS domain name for your DNS Name. This prevents folder redirection and roaming profiles from successfully blocking your profile or redirects folders to a non-primary computer.
  • Addressed issue where an access violation in the Mobile Device Manager Enterprise feature causes stop errors.
  • Security updates to Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Windows Search Component, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Microsoft Windows PDF Library, Windows Hyper-V, Windows Server, Windows kernel-mode drivers, Windows Subsystem for Linux, Windows shell, Common Log File System Driver, Internet Explorer, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine.

How to download this Windows 10 update

Windows 10 build 15063.540 (KB4034674) for PCs and phones is available immediately. The new update will download and install automatically, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and clicking the Check for updates button.

Additionally, Microsoft is also releasing update KB4034658 or devices running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which bumps the build number to 14393.1593 and address a couple of issues and delivers security patches.

Windows 10 version 1511 gets update KB4034660 bringing the build number to 10586.1045, and it also fixes a few problems and address some security vulnerabilities.

If you’re still on the initial version of Windows 10, your device will be getting update KB4034668 that elevates the version to 10240.17533. This update only fixes a couple of problem and delivers some security patches.
