Xbox One X (2017)

Xbox One X (Project Scorpio) officially revealed, available on November 7

Microsoft introduces the most powerful console ever — The Xbox One X.

After a long wait, Microsoft has finally introduced “Xbox One X,” the next version of the game console formerly known as “Project Scorpio.” The company revealed the new Xbox during E3 2017, and it’ll be available worldwide on November 7.

What’s new with Xbox One X? Well, everything. Microsoft is touting the new Xbox as the “most powerful console ever.” The new Xbox One X sports 6 teraflops of graphical power using a custom GPU that runs at 1172MHz, which is much more than the 911MHz included with the PlayStation 4 Pro.

The console is also powered by a custom x86 8 core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, which over 30 percent faster than the current Xbox One S console. Instead of 8GB of RAM, Xbox One X ships with 12GB of GDDR5 memory, 9GB of which are dedicated for gameplay, and 1TB non-SSD hard drive. You’ll also get HDMI 2.0 and a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray drive just like the one in the Xbox One S.

With this new hardware, Microsoft is now promising 4K gameplay and video playback.

Additionally, all your existing Xbox One accessories will work on the new console, along with all your Xbox One games and Xbox 360 games through backward compatibility. Microsoft is even bringing original Xbox games compatibility, and the company also says that thanks to “supersampling” your Xbox One X games will look even better on 1080p resolution if you don’t have a 4K TV. Games you currently own for Xbox One and Xbox 360 will look better with the new console and load times will be faster.

Xbox One X is the first console ever to feature a liquid cooled vapor chamber to keep it cool, and it’s also the smallest Xbox ever.

The new console will be available on November 7, and it’ll cost $499.
