Xbox Project Scorpio (dev kit)

Microsoft shows off Xbox Project Scorpio dev kit console

This is the Project Scorpio console Xbox developers get to build new games.

Xbox Project Scorpio is expected to be unveiled during Microsoft’s briefing during E3 2017, and ahead of the event the company has decided to show off its dev kit console.

In the video tour, Microsoft provides a closer look at the features and hardware inside the dev kit, which is the console developers get to build and test their games.

Physically, the dev kit includes additional ports than the current Xbox One S, no disk drive, and there is a front-panel display, but of course, this console doesn’t look anything as the final product.

Kevin Gammill, a Xbox engineer, also reveals that Xbox Project Scorpio for developers features faster graphics processor, 24GB of memory, and 1TB SSD drive for storage along with a traditional rotating platter 1TB hard drive. Additionally, the dev kit features the ability to switch between Xbox One, Xbox One S, or Project Scorpio.

Based on feedback from developers, the console also features cooling vents on the side that allows game creators to stack the units on top of each other.

Microsoft will be unveiling the Xbox Project Scorpio and all the details, including the official name, exact hardware specifications, final design, and pricing during the Xbox briefing on Sunday, June 11 at 5PM EST / 2PM PT.

The company will be streaming the event live on Mixer, Twitch, YouTube, Facebook Live, and Twitter. Additionally, this time around, Microsoft will also be broadcasting the briefing on Fuse channel, if you prefer to watch the event on cable.
