Stardock – Fences is an awesome application for Windows that allows you to quickly and easily organize your desktop.

If you are tired of searching around in a cluttered desktop for that specific software shortcut, file or folder, this is a magical application that you should try.

Fences allows you to quickly and easily organize all “the stuff” on your desktop with just a few clicks. You can either let Fences do the work for you, sort out and group your shortcuts, files and folder into areas (Fences), or you can create your own areas (unlimited number), name them anything you want, and drag & drop the items — great solution when you need to isolate on going or new projects and you want to keep things organize –.

This application is very customizable, you can: Create new, label and adjust fences; change appearance (background color, opacity, option to show or hide labels, and more); set Fences to automatically adjust to screen resolution changes, and you can even backup your customization by taking a snapshot, that way if you change things around and you can easily go back to a previous arrangements.

Quick-hide… A great feature and may be the most valuable, that when you double-click an empty area on your desktop, all the fences will fade out and hide, leaving a clean desktop; and by double-clicking on the desktop once again will bring back all icons, files and folders.

Tip: A quick way to create a new fence is by selecting, while holding pressed the mouse right-click all the shortcuts, files and folders you want to group, let go of the mouse click and select Create new fence from these icons.

Fences requires Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows XP. Windows 7 and Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit are supported.

Fences is great for beginner and for advanced users even more, when grouping projects, when noticing that Fences can adapt to screen resolution changes, and how quickly the desktop becomes clean again. Also this application will not kill your CPU or use much of your computer’s memory, so you can be sure that it will have a low impact in your system’s resources.
