Microsoft is already rolling out the Lumia Cyan with the Windows Phone 8.1 update to devices, but not every device gets right away during the roll out. Furthermore, not every Lumia device is getting the update today, according to the company it will taka a few weeks to roll out the Cyan update to all Lumia devices. As such it’s up to you to figure out if your smartphone is getting update today.
Before updating to Lumia Cyan, Microsoft recommends having a minimum of 1.5GB for free storage space in your phone. Checking how much available space the phone currently have, go to Settings and navigate to storage check. If you don’t have enough space, see if you can temporarily delete some applications and move pictures and other data off the phone.
Also to avoid wasting time and sub-charges on your mobile metered internet connection, make sure to connect to a Wi-Fi network before updating. Also check that your phone battery has at least 50% charge.
Instructions
1. Unlock your Windows Phone and tap on Settings and Phone Update.
2. To install the updates available, tap the notification message, and the follow the steps shown in your phone.
3. Now sit and wait until the update installs… This could take from 15-30 minutes, however a big update like the Lumia Cyan could take up to 2 hours to complete depending on the phone. It’s recommended to install the update during off hours, where you know, you won’t be using the phone.
4. Repeat the first step to make sure your phone is fully updated.
Also remember that the update is only compatible with Windows Phone 8 devices. If you have a Windows Phone 7.8 handset, you’re out of luck.
