Microsoft is readying to release a “technology preview” of Windows “Threshold” late September or during the first week of October, ZDNet reports.
According to a new article from Mary Jo Foley, long time trusted Microsoft watcher, said that multiple sources confirmed that Windows “Threshold” “technology preview” is closing in.
The preview will available to anyone who wishes to test the early bits. However unlike the previous previews for Windows 8, users will have to agree to have subsequent automatic monthly updates.
Windows Threshold is setting to the next biggest release for the software giant, the final release may or may not be called “Windows 9” when it is made available during spring 2015. The new operating system is expected to deliver a major overhaul with a number of new features that will help users with traditional PCs without touch and improve those who use devices with touch-enabled screens.
Though, Microsoft will deliver a technology preview in the coming weeks, it doesn’t mean that users will be getting all the features at once. For what I understand, because there will be monthly updates, we can expect new features to be included on each update.

Among the features, we all are expecting to see, the new Start menu, windowed modern apps floating in the Desktop, the drop of the Charms bar, virtual desktops, Cortana’s digital assistant integration with Windows 9, new flat desktop design that makes the Metro UI language, and more.
Microsoft isn’t commenting on this information, so this means that it is unclear if the “technology preview” will be the only preview the company will make available before the bits get release to manufacturers. We heard previously that the software giant was planning to release a preview before the end of 2014, so this might just be the one.
