Last month Microsoft showed off new features coming to Windows 10, among the changes, the company unveiled Continuum, a new mode that allows users to switch between a desktop-optimized to touch-optimized mode, making easier for users with 2-in-1 devices such as Surface Pro 3 to move between environments to better navigate the operating system.
However what Microsoft demoed during the Windows 10 unveiling event was a simulation, now we’re getting word from ZDNet that Belfiore has told the press that Windows Insiders can expect to be testing Continuum on Windows 10 before the end of 2014 or early 2015.
Below is the demo that Microsoft showed at the end of September and it shows how Continuum will work. Basically when disconnecting the keyboard on a 2-in-1 device like Surface and Lenovo’s Yoga tablets, a pop-up will appear offering users to enter to the tablet mode to better navigate Windows 10. At this point, Universal apps will automatically go into full screen and there another version of the Start menu that covers the entire screen similar to the Start screen.
