Microsoft pushes KB3020114 update to fix Explorer crashing issue in Windows 10 build 9879

Windows Update KB3020114

Microsoft rolls out fix for big bug that has caused Explorer.exe to crash and restart in Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9879. Although, this is a relief for many Windows Insiders testing the operating system, many are noticing that the KB3020114 update won’t install in their system. Microsoft is aware of the issue and it’s working on a resolution.

For those running the Windows 10 build 9879 can now go to Windows Update and download the latest patch defined as KB3020114. The Microsoft support page details that this should fix the crashing problem: “The Explorer.exe process continuously crashes and restarts after you upgrade to Windows Server Technical Preview or Windows 10 Technical Preview.”

If you can’t install the update, reboot and re-check Windows Update. If you still can’t install it, in this case, you may have to wait until the company releases a revised version of KB3020114.

But rest assured Microsoft is working on the issue. Here is the Tweet from Gabriel Aul acknowledging the problem.
