Windows 10 Mobile build 10572 known issues

Here are all the known issues found in Windows 10 Mobile build 10572 noted by Microsoft.

Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones (first build)

On October 20th, Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 Mobile build 10572 to Insiders through the Fast ring of updates. The newly released build includes a significant number of changes on Cortana, integration with the PC version of Windows 10, updated apps, improvements on Settings, and a bunch of good fixes, but the software giant again warns that the build still includes the bug that won’t let Insiders install the new build.

If you want to install the new build, Microsoft says that you have to roll back to Windows Phone 8.1, reinstall the Windows Insider app, and then download build 10572. Or you can wait until the next build that will come with the fix for this problem.

However, Microsoft released the new build via the Fast ring, which means that there are other issues that you should be aware of before spending the time trying update to the latest version. Continue reading to know all the issues with this new build.

Windows 10 Mobile 10549 known issues

  • Visual Voicemail sync is broken on some devices. You may need to call your voicemail directly within the Phone app > Settings > Change more settings for Phone > Call Voicemail.
  • Opening message threads within the Messaging app will crash on dual SIM phones if the second line’s Messaging tile is removed from the Start screen (even if only a single SIM is used). The second line’s Messaging app will also appear to be removed from the All apps list. To work around this issue, the second line messaging tile must be linked to the first line messaging tile by opening up the first line in the Messaging app then go to Settings > link tiles.
  • On Dual SIM devices, unpinning the second line Phone tile from the Start screen will make the entry disappear from the All apps list. Rebooting the phone will cause the tile and application to both reappear.
  • Photos cannot be selected for sharing through third party apps like Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram Beta, WhatsApp etc.
  • Some devices will get into a state where the Phone app will continually crash upon launch. Resetting the device will recover it from this state.
  • Devices that have updated from Windows Phone 8 to Windows Phone 8.1 may lose the ability to connect to Wi-Fi on Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview builds or may fail to update to Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview builds all together.

Although, there are quite a few known issues with this build, Microsoft also delivers a bunch of new improvements and fixes that makes build 10572 worth the try. You can check all the new changes in this new build of Windows 10 Mobile in my previous write up.

Update, October 22nd, 2015: It appears that some users are seeing the new update offered in their current build of Windows 10, but of course this shouldn’t have to happen. Microsoft has said that after investigation, it has discovered the cause of the issue is related to device provisioning.

Until the company has a permanent fix, it’s offering the following workaround:

1. Reboot your device

2. Open the Windows Insider app

3. Re-select the WIP ring of your choice (WIP Fast for currently affected users)

4. (You may be prompted to reboot again)
