Asus unveils the RT-AC5300U router with impressive tech specs to offer blazing Wi-Fi speeds and a design out of the world.

At IFA 2015 in Berlin, device makers had the opportunity to show off their newest all-in-one, phones, tablets, monitors, and other gadgets. We’ve seen many unique designs and approaches, even the Lenovo IdeaPad Miix 700 (the Surface Pro 3 clone), looks stunning, but nothing screams I want to standout like the latest Asus router.

During the press conference, Asus announced the RT-AC5300U router, which not only looks like something from a sci-fi movie, but the company also claims it’s the fastest router in the world.

The Asus RT-AC5300U is a Tri-band router (one 2.4 GHz band and two 5 GHz bands), and because it features the latest Broadcom wireless processor, each band can push higher bandwidth throughput using its gigantic antennas.

Features3G/4GB cellular sharing, HDD sharing via SAMBA and DLNA, FPT server and Printer server.

The new router can get Wi-Fi speeds up to 1,000Mbps on the 2.4Ghz band and up to 2,167Mbps on each 5Ghz band, which combining all three bands we get a theoretically total bandwidth of 5,300Mbps. However, in reality speeds are always lower because everything depends on the setup environment, device, adapter, software, range, interference, etc.

The new router from Asus includes eight dual-band detachable antennas, two USB ports (one 3.0 and one 2.0), which can be utilized for peripherals, such as printers, external hard drives, and even to connect a 3G or 4G connection using a cellular dongle, which you can share across devices in your network. In addition, you get your traditional four Gigabit LAN ports and one Gigabit WAN port.
