Your brand new 4K monitor is now obsolete, Dell just announced that will start shipping the UP2715K a 27-inch display packing a 5120 x 2880 pixels. Yes! 5K monitors are here! This is close to 14.7-megapixel, almost double the 8.3-megapixel found in current 4K displays.
With the Dell UltraSharp 27 Ultra HD 5K Monitor UP2715K you basically get 70 percent more pixels, there are so many pixels in this monster panel that in order to drive all those pixels you’ll have to use two DisplayPort 1.2 ports. On other tech specs, this new monitor features 218 PPI and color depth of 1 billion colors. And a miniDisplayPort that can be used to drive in 4K mode.
Dell showed off the new monitor using the Nvidia Quadro K5000 GPU, the video shown was actually a 5K resolution H.265 video.
The new Dell UP2715K monitor will cost $2,499.99, which it seems pricey, but consider that a 32-inch 4K monitor was priced at $3,500 last year. Dell is aiming this new panels toward businesses, such as for medical and scientific fields. If you want to get one, Dell will start shipping in the fourth quarter of this year.
I would certainly like to have one of these monitors, what do you think? Would you buy one of these new 5K monitors?
