If you already use Firefox — or you’re coming back to the browser –, you’ll notice that Pocket is part of the experience that allows you to save web pages and videos to the service for later viewing. In addition, every time you open a New Tab, you’ll also see a number of top recommended content curated by Pocket.
Although Pocket might be a good feature to have, it’s not for everyone. If you’re one of those who isn’t interested in this feature, it’s possible to disable Pocket and those recommendation when opening a new tab.
In the address bar, type
about:config and press Enter.
Click the I accept the risk! button to continue to the page.
Search for Pocket and press Enter.
extensions.pocket.enabled option to change the option’s value from true to false.
Once you’ve completed the steps Pocket will be disabled from Firefox, but the recommended content will still show up on new tabs.
If you’re not interested on seeing Pocket recommended content, you’ll easily remove this section from the New Tab experience.
Create a new tab.
Click the gear button on the top-right corner of the page.
Clear the Recommended by Pocket option.
Click the Done button.
After completing the steps, you’ll no longer see content curated by Pocket on new tabs.
