Recently Microsoft talked about the problem with releasing newer build of Windows 10 more frequently. Today through the Insider Hub app the software maker is announcing that it will be releasing new Windows 10 Technical Preview builds more often through the Fast ring of updates for PCs, tablets, and phones.

In the announcement the company states that they heard the feedbacks and admitted that it has been “too conservative about pushing builds to the Fast ring for Windows Insiders”.

Now, Insiders who choose Fast will get updates more often, with all the new features and fixes, however the company isn’t clarifying how often it will be.

Also the company warns users that the downside of getting new Technical Preview builds faster will cause code to include more bugs and “fewer workarounds”. For all those users who don’t like this idea, the company recommends to stay or move to the Slow ring.

Get faster builds of Windows 10 for PC and mobile

  1. Open Settings and navigate to Update & recovery.

  2. Click the Advanced options link.

  3. Under “Choose how preview builds get installed” choose Fast to get new builds more often or Slow to get more stable builds.

  4. Check for updates, if there is no new builds, keep checking daily. Also, remember that the update will happen automatically when ready.

Microsoft will not only release faster versions of Windows 10 for desktops, but for phones as well — Just go to the Windows Insider app to enroll your phones to get builds faster.

The software giant says that there will be a more discernible difference between the cadence and level of polish of Windows 10 builds release in the Fast and Slow rings. “Insiders who choose to keep the default setting of Slow will still receive preview builds, however they will arrive less frequently and with a higher degree of polish.” The company adds.
