this works! – I had to install windows10 on a Parallels virtual machine (mac). I only had a Windows 8 iso available, so I used the iso to boot the vm, used this method to activate and then upgraded to windows 10 – this article saved me from a ton of work. Thanks.

Thanks Mauro. Had to replace my hard drive. Installed 8.0 with my update key and did the regedit, system activated.

Hello Judith,
You just need to open the Run command (WinKey+R keyboard shortcut) type regedit, press Enter and flow the steps above. That should take care of your problem.

I tried to instal and format my hard drive to clean it up. I thought I had win2 but it was an upgrade now I don’t have win 7 and they won’t take my product number for the win upgrade. now what
