I only had a Windows 8 iso available, so I used the iso to boot the vm, used this method to activate and then upgraded to windows 10 - this article saved me from a ton of work. You just need to open the Run command (WinKey+R keyboard shortcut) type regedit, press Enter and flow the steps above. That should take care of your problem.
