This is how Microsoft’s Spartan web browser for Windows 10 looks like

Microsoft web browser entirely new

Windows 10 is getting a new web browser, which surprisingly enough is not part of Internet Explorer. Microsoft codenamed the project “Spartan” and it is something brand new. Current information available points out that Spartan will share varies similarities with Google Chrome and Firefox, and the software may include extensions as well.

The new lightweight browser it is said to include a new version of Microsoft’s Trident rendering engine, which will drop legacy support, but it will use an older version of the engine, when required for compatibility.

Up until now, we heard little pieces of information, but how the browser will look like remains unknown. However, Neowin claims to have “actual” screenshots of Spartan, “there are authentic”. The screenshots published by Neowin are small and blurry, but you can still get a very good look at the interface.

You can view these original images at Neowin (use source link below), below we have a mockup instead that shows exactly how the real Spartan may look like.

As you can see in the image, the new Microsoft’s web browser has a minimalist design, just like Chrome and Firefox (and many will argue that it also looks like Opera’s web browser.) Spartan also has squared tabs with the address and navigation controls (forward, back, and refresh buttons) located on the left below the tabs.

On the right side that is where we start seeing new stuff, as we can see the favorite start at the end of the URL bar and next to the “reading mode” feature, which we already use in Internet Explorer 11.

Then there is folder icon and a share button, which in Windows 8 is used to share content to social networks or via email. On the far right, we also see the three-dotted button to access the settings and preferences of Spartan.

According to details, the browser features borderless windows to allow content to stretch from side-to-side. Like in Google Chrome and Firefox, Spartan does not have UI elements at the bottom of the window, all the UI happens at the top.

No other details were released. We still do not know what Spartan will be called and do not expected to be called “Internet Explorer 12”. Also, current rumors suggests that the browser may integrate with Cortana, but we will have to wait for more details.
