Google recently announced “Choose Your Side,” a promotional campaign that let users change their Google services with a Star Wars theme. After choosing from the “Light Side” or “Dark Side” every Google service, including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Now, Chrome, Chromecast, Waze, YouTube, and even Android Wear Watches will feature a Start Wars theme.
Getting into one of the sides is pretty easy, you simply go to https://www.google.com/starwars/, sign in with your Google account and drag your user profile picture to the Light Side or Dark Side.
However, after a while of having all your services themed with Star Wars visuals, you may want to restore your default settings just because you want things the way they were before or because after some time, it can get annoying having to hear YouTube with the lightsaber sound.
Although, Google makes it very simple to choose a side, the web page doesn’t really specify how to remove the Star Wars theme from your Google account. As such, if you want remove the Star Wars-themed visuals and revert back to your previous settings simply follow the steps below.
Remove the Star Wars theme from your Google account
Go back to Google.com/startwars. If you’re signed in with your credentials your avatar will appear in the current side you’re on.
Click the Change Side button.
Finally, click the Back to Default button to confirm the change.
That’s all folks, now go back Gmail, Google Calendar, YouTube, and to any of the other services to see the change reverted or to see the new side.
