If the old computer has a secondary hard drive, when you are in the wizard step where it says “Choose what to transfer”, you can click the link Advanced Options in the bottom right and navigate to “Map Drive” section and do it that way.

If the old computer only have one hard drive and the new computer has two hard drives. I will recommend you using choosing in “Choose what to transfer” step the Customize option and only transfer your settings. Then with an external USB media copy the big files (photos, music, and movies) and then just load them back to the new computer into the new hard drive.

If you don’t have an external hard drive, you could take the empty hard drive from the new computer and install it into the old computer and copy all the big files that way.

A third option would be to share the folders in the old computer with the files you want to copy and access it from your local network using your new computer and copy the file over.

What happens if you have an SSD hard drive with the OS and drivers loaded on it and another Hard Drive for mass storage? Because i do not have enough room left on the SSD drive to copy the files over from the old computer yet the other hard drive is empty but it does not have an option to choose so i can copy to that drive?

This is what you want to do to use transfer over the network:
It is assumed that both computer are connected and communicating in the same network and they both are running Windows 7.

1. Start the Windows Easy Transfer application and choose A Network.
2. From the old computer click: This is my old computer and grab the six digit number.
3. Go to your old computer start Windows Easy Transfer and choose A Network.
4. Click: This is my new computer.
5. Click: My old computer is running Windows 7.
6. Click Next, enter the 6 digit number 123-123 and click Next.
7. Let Windows do it thing…
8. Choose what you want to transfer and click Transfer. Now seat a relax until the process is finished!
9. Click: Close and you are done.
