While we’re still hopeful that new Surface hardware will arrive this year, Microsoft continues to improve the current line of Surface devices.
For the month of July, the company is rolling out new firmware updates for both, Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, to resolve a number of driver issues, system performance, touch input, and Surface Pen settings.
Microsoft driver updates:
- Surface System Aggregator Firmware
- Surface Touch
- Surface Pen Settings
- Surface Button
- Surface Touch Servicing ML
Intel driver updates:
- Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) Audio Controller and OED
- Intel HD Graphics 520
Perhaps one of the most important updates coming in this roll out is the Intel HD Graphics 520, which it’s an update that promises to resolve crashes, hangs, and graphics issues on a number of games and applications. In addition to scaling problems running Windows 10.
Because both Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book share almost exactly the same hardware the July 2016 firmware updates bring the same improvements on both devices.
If you have not received the update on your Surface, then manually check by going to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and try manually forcing the download.
