Windows 10 update KB4040724 (build 15063.632) releases

Windows 10 gets second quality update in September to address a number of issue.

Microsoft is releasing an out-of-band update for devices running the Windows 10 with the Creators Update. This new quality update brings a number of bug fixes and small improvements, but doesn’t include new features or big changes.

KB4040724 bumps the version number of Windows 10 build 15063.632, and it addresses an issue with Microsoft Edge, and improves cellular connectivity.

Alongside this update, Microsoft is also pushing out KB4038801 for devices still running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which fixes a number of issues and updates BitLocer.psm1PowerShell script.

What’s new on Windows 10 build 15063.632

Microsoft has announced KB4040724 in its support site, and it’s referred as “September 25, 2017—KB4040724 (OS Build 15063.632)”. If you’re already running the Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) on your PC, this update will only address these issues:

  • Reliability improvements and fixes for cellular connectivity.
  • Fixed issue in Microsoft Edge where on first launch after installing KB4038788, or periodically thereafter, users may observe performance issues or unresponsiveness until the next launch of the browser.

What’s new on Windows 10 build 14393.1737

The update KB4038801 is referred as “September 25, 2017—KB4038801 (OS Build 14393.1737)”. If you’re already running the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) on your PC, this update will only address these issues:

  • Updated the BitLocker.psm1 PowerShell script to not log passwords when logging is enabled.
  • Addressed issue with the Lock Workstation setting for smart cards where, in some cases, the system doesn’t lock when the smart card is removed.
  • Fixed issue where saving a credential with an empty password to Credential Manager causes the system to stop working when attempting to use the credential.
  • Addressed issue where an access token is improperly closed from a WMI query.
  • Fixed issue where the size of a cloned file was improperly calculated by ReFS.
  • Addressed error STOP 0x44 in Npfs!NpFsdDirectoryControl.
  • Fixed error 0x1_SysCallNum_71_nt!KiSystemServiceExitPico.

How to download this Windows 10 update

Windows 10 build 15063.632 (KB4040724) for PCs and mobile devices is available immediately. The new update will download and install automatically, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and clicking the Check for updates button.
