Windows 10 update KB4093112 (build 16299.371) releases

Microsoft pushes a new update for devices running the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (16299.371) addressing security vulnerability on AMD CPUs, fixes Microsoft Edge, and patches a number of other security issues.

Windows 10 version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) is getting update KB4093112 as part of the April 2018 Patch Tuesday to fix a number of issues.

KB4093112 bumps the version number of Windows 10 to build 16299.371, and it delivers a security fix for AMD processors, addresses problems with Microsoft Edge, and much more.

What’s new with Windows 10 build 16299.371

Microsoft has announced KB4093112 in the Windows support site, and it’s referred as “April 10, 2018—KB4093112 (OS Build 16299.371)”. If you’re already running the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update on your PC, this update will only address this issue:

  • Provides support to control usage of Indirect Branch Prediction Barrier (IBPB) within some AMD processors (CPUs) for mitigating CVE-2017-5715, Spectre Variant 2 when switching from user context to kernel context.
  • Addresses additional issues with updated time zone information.
  • Fixes an issue in Enterprise Mode related to redirects in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.
  • Addresses an issue that causes an access violation in Internet Explorer when it runs on the Microsoft Application Virtualization platform.
  • Fixes an issue with printing content generated by ActiveX in Internet Explorer.
  • Addresses an issue that causes document.execCommand(“copy”) to always return False in Internet Explorer.
  • Fixes an issue that, in some instances, prevents Internet Explorer from identifying custom controls.
  • Addresses an issue that generates an access violation on certain pages in Internet Explorer when it renders SVGs under a high load.
  • Fixes an issue that might cause the App-V service to stop working on an RDS server that hosts many users.
  • Addresses an issue where user accounts are locked when applications are moved to a shared platform using App-V.
  • Security updates to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Windows kpp platform and frameworks, Microsoft scripting engine, Windows graphics, Windows Server, Windows kernel, Windows datacenter networking, Windows wireless networking, Windows virtualization and Kernel, and Windows Hyper-V.

Alongside the update for Windows 10 version 1709, Microsoft is also making available update KB4100375, which is the first quality update for Windows 10 version 1803, an bumps the build number to 17133.73.

What’s new for older versions of Windows 10

In addition to the latest patch for Windows 10 version 1709, Microsoft is also releasing update KB4093107 for the Windows 10 version 1703 (Creators Update) addressing several issues, and the update also bumps the build number to 15063.1029.

Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Update) gets KB4093119 to fix a number of issues and security problems, and it bumps the build number to 14393.2189. It’s worth noting that with the April 2018 Patch Tuesday, version 1607 reaches the end of service for Windows 10 Pro and Home editions, which means that moving forward these editions will no longer receive monthly security updates. However, Windows 10 Enterprise and Education will continue to recieve updates for an additional six months.

Windows 10 Enterprise and Education version version 1511 is getting update KB4093109 that bumps the build number to 10586.1540 addressing a few issues and security vulnerabilities. (This is the final update for version 1511, and not extended support will be offered beyond this update.)

Also, Windows 10 Enterprise version 1507 gets update KB4093111 bumping the build number to 10240.17831, and this update addresses various problems and patches a number of security problems.

Finally, Windows 10 Mobile is also getting update KB4099572 that bumps the build number to 15254.369 and includes the same improvements found with update KB4093107 for Windows 10 Mobile version 1703 (Creators Update).

How to download April 10 update for Windows 10

Windows 10 build 16299.371 (KB4093112) for PCs is available immediately. The new update will download and install automatically, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and clicking the Check for updates button.
