Windows 10 update KB4471332 (build 17763.194) releases

Windows 10 gets a new update (KB4471332) to address specific Windows Media Player problem, and older versions get several fixes — Here's all you need to know.

In the last official Patch Tuesday of the year, Microsoft is rolling out update KB4471332 for Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018 Update) to address a couple of issues in addition to those fixes available with the last cumulative update.

KB4471332 bumps the version number to build 17763.194, and according to the company fixes a specific Seek Bar problem with Windows Media Player and addresses security problems with various Windows 10 components.

In addition, this December Patch Tuesday also delivers updates for Windows 10 version 1803 (April 2018 Update), version 1709 (Fall Creators Update), version 1703 (Creators Update), and older versions.

Microsoft has announced KB4471332 in the Windows support site, and it’s referred as “December 11, 2018—KB4471332 (OS Build 17763.194)”. If you’re already running the Windows 10 version 1809 on your PC, this update will address these problems:

  • Addresses an issue that may prevent the use of the Seek Bar in Windows Media Player when playing specific files. This issue does not affect normal playback.
  • Security updates to Windows Authentication, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Internet Explorer, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Wireless Networking, Windows Kernel, Microsoft Edge, and Microsoft Scripting Engine.

Windows 10 build 17134.471

The April 2018 Update (version 1803) is getting update KB4471324, and the Windows support site referred it as “December 11, 2018—KB4471324 (OS Build 17134.471)”. If you’re already running version 1709 on your PC, this update will address these issues:

  • Addresses an issue that may prevent the use of the Seek Bar in Windows Media Player when playing specific files. This issue does not affect normal playback.
  • Addresses an issue that may cause some users to see a blue or black screen and receive the error code, “System thread exception not handled.”
  • Addresses an issue with Microsoft Intune that causes devices to be incorrectly marked as not compliant because a firewall incorrectly returns a ‘Poor’ status. As a result, the affected devices will not receive conditional access compliance approval and may be blocked from access to corporate resources such as email.
    Addresses an issue that may cause some custom Start menu layouts to display incorrectly.
  • Security updates to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Microsoft Graphics Component, Microsoft Edge, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Authentication, Windows Wireless Networking, and Windows Kernel.

Windows 10 build 16299.846

The Fall Creators Update (version 1709) is getting update KB4471329, and the Windows support site referred it as “December 11, 2018—KB4471329 (OS Build 16299.846)”. If you’re already running version 1709 on your PC, this update will address these issues:

  • Addresses an issue that may prevent the use of the Seek Bar in Windows Media Player when playing specific files. This issue does not affect normal playback.
  • Security updates to Internet Explorer, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Microsoft Graphics Component, Microsoft Edge, Windows Kernel, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Wireless Networking, and Windows Authentication.

Older versions of Windows 10

Although the version 1703 (Creators Update) is no longer supported, organizations running the Enterprise or Education edition of Windows 10 are getting KB4471327, which addresses a few problems and bumps the version number to build 15063.1506.

Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Update) is also no longer supported, but organizations with devices still running this release can now download and install KB4471321, which fixes a couple of issues and bumps the version number to 14393.2665.

In addition, Windows 10 version 1507 (original release) is getting an update as well even though it’s no longer a supported version. The update is described as “December 11, 2018—KB4471323 (OS Build 10240.18063),” and it addresses several issues.
