Windows 10 update KB4493509 (build 17763.437) releases

Almost all versions of Windows 10 recieve quality updates, and here's all you need to know.

As part of the April 2019 Patch Tuesday, Microsoft is rolling out update KB4493509 for Windows 10 version 1809, October 2018 Update, to fix a number of issues.

KB4493509 bumps the version number to build 17763.437, and according to the company addresses security vulnerabilities and apps problems.

In addition, the company is also releasing quality updates for previous version of Windows 10, including version 1803, 1709, 1703, 1607, and the original release.

Microsoft has announced KB4493509 in the Windows support site, and it’s referred as “April 9, 2019—KB4493509 (OS Build 17763.437)” If you’re already running the Windows 10 October 2018 Update on your device, this update will address these problems:

  • Addresses an issue that occurs when you enable per font end-user-defined characters (EUDC).
  • Fixes a problem that may cause applications that use MSXML6 to stop responding if an exception was thrown during node operations.
  • Addresses an issue that causes the Group Policy editor to stop responding when editing a Group Policy Object (GPO) that contains Group Policy Preferences (GPP) for Internet Explorer 10 Internet settings.
  • Fixes a problem that may cause authentication issues for Internet Explorer 11 and other applications that use WININET.DLL.
  • Security updates to Windows Datacenter Networking, Windows Server, the Microsoft JET Database Engine, Windows Kernel, Windows Input and Composition, Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Storage and Filesystems, MicrosoftGraphics Component, Windows Virtualization, Windows MSXML, Windows SQL components, and Microsoft Edge.

Windows 10 update KB4493464 for version 1803

The April 2018 Update (version 1803) is getting update KB4493464, and the Windows support site referred it as “April 9, 2019—KB4493464 (OS Build 17134.706)”. If you’re already running version 1803 on your PC, this update will address these issues:

  • Provides protections against Spectre Variant 2 (CVE-2017-5715) and Meltdown (CVE-2017-5754) for VIA-based computers.
  • Addresses an issue that may cause applications that use MSXML6 to stop responding if an exception was thrown during node operations. 
  • Fixes a problem that causes the Group Policy editor to stop responding when editing a Group Policy Object (GPO) that contains Group Policy Preferences (GPP) for Internet Explorer 10 Internet settings.
  • Addresses an issue that occurs when you enable per font end-user-defined characters (EUDC).
  • Security updates to Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Server, Windows Graphics, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Kernel, Windows Virtualization, Windows MSXML, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine. 

Windows 10 update KB4493441 for version 1709

The Fall Creators Update (version 1709) is getting update KB4493441, and the Windows support site referred it as “April 9, 2019—KB4493441 (OS Build 16299.1087)”. If you’re already running version 1709 on your device, this update will address these issues:

  • Fixes a problem that may cause applications that use MSXML6 to stop responding if an exception was thrown during node operations.
  • Fixes a problem that causes the Group Policy editor to stop responding when editing a Group Policy Object (GPO) that contains Group Policy Preferences (GPP) for Internet Explorer 10 Internet settings.
  • Addresses a stop error that occurs when attempting to start the Secure Shell (SSH) client program from Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) with agent forwarding enabled using a command line switch (ssh –A) or a configuration setting.
  • Fixes a problem that occurs when you enable per font end-user-defined characters (EUDC). 
  • Security updates to Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Graphics, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Server, Windows Datacenter Networking, Windows Server, Windows MSXML, Windows Kernel, Windows Virtualization, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine.

Also, as of April 9, 2019, the Fall Creators Update has reached the end of service, which means that Microsoft will no longer offer quality updates for this version. If you want to continue receiving updates, you need to upgrade to a new version of Windows 10.

Windows 10 updates for older versions

Although the version 1703 (Creators Update) is no longer supported, organizations running the Enterprise or Education edition of Windows 10 are getting update KB4493474, which addresses many issues and bumps up the version number to build 15063.1747.

Windows 10 version 1607 (Anniversary Update) is also no longer supported, but organizations with devices still running this release can now download and install KB4493470, which fixes a few issues and bumps the version number to 14393.2906.

Finally, the original release of Windows 10 is getting update KB4493475 to address a slew of issues.
