Windows 10 update KB4577062 releases for version 1909 and 1903 (preview)

The KB4577062 update is now available as a preview for Windows 10 version 1909 and 1903 with several fixes, and here's all you need to know.

Microsoft is releasing the KB4577062 update as an optional update for devices running Windows 10 version 1909 and 1903. The update is available as preview, and it delivers several improvements that are expected to be arrive during the October 2020 Patch Tuesday rollout.

The KB4577062 update bumps the version number to build 18363.1110 and 18362.1110 for version 1909 and 1903 respectively, and according to the software giant, adds a new notification to Internet Explorer to inform the end of support of Adobe Flash in December 2020. The update also includes fixes for apps going into an unwanted repair cycle, darker than expected high dynamic range (HDR) content, missing fonts, device stop responding after using a pen, and Windows Mixed Reality.

In addition, Windows 10 version 1809 is also getting a preview of the KB4577069 update, which bumps the version number to build 17763.1490, addresses a few issues, and includes a notification to inform users about the Adobe Flash end of support deadline.

Update KB4577062 for Windows 10 version 1909 and 1903

Microsoft has announced KB4577062 in the Windows support site, and it’s referred as “September 16, 2020—KB4577062 (OS Builds 18362.1110 and 18363.1110) Preview” If you’re already running the November 2019 Update or May 2019 Update, this update will address these problems:

  • Adds a notification to Internet Explorer 11 that informs users about the end of support for Adobe Flash in December 2020.
  • Addresses an issue with Microsoft Edge IE Mode that occurs when you enable Configure enhanced hang detection for Internet Explorer mode in Microsoft Edge.
  • Fixes a problem that causes certain apps to go into an unwanted repair cycle.
  • Addresses an issue that, in certain scenarios, causes applications to stop working if they are created using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
  • Ensures that new Windows Mixed Reality HMDs meet minimum specification requirements and default to a 90Hz refresh rate.
  • Fixes a problem that might display 4K high dynamic range (HDR) content darker than expected when you configure certain non-HDR systems for HDR Streaming.
  • Addresses an issue that might display an empty black screen when a device is connecting to a Windows Virtual Desktop (WVD) machine.
  • Fixes a problem in which selecting I forgot my Pin from Settings>Accounts>Sign-in options fails in a Windows Hello for Business On-Premise deployment.

  • Addresses an issue with the Microsoft Cluster Shared Volumes File Systems (CSVFS) driver that prevents Win32 API access to SQL Server Filestream data.
  • Fixes a problem that causes a deadlock when Offline Files are enabled.
  • Addresses an issue that causes deduplication jobs to fail with stop error 0x50 when you call HsmpRecallFreeCachedExtents().
  • Fixes a problem with evaluating the compatibility status of the Windows ecosystem to help ensure application and device compatibility for all updates to Windows.
  • Addresses an issue that causes applications stop working when they use Microsoft’s Remote Desktop sharing APIs. The breakpoint exception code is 0x80000003.

Uninstall update KB4577062 to fix problems

If the KB4577062 update is causing issues on your device, you can always uninstall it to revert the changes.

To uninstall KB4577062 or any other quality update on Windows 10, use these steps:

  1. Open Start.

  2. Search for Command Prompt, right-click the top result and select the Run as administrator option.

  3. Type the following command to view the update history and press Enter:

    wmic qfe list brief /format:table
  4. Check the Windows Update history of your device, and identify the update by its HotFixID and InstalledOn information.

  5. Type the following command to uninstall the update from your computer and press Enter:

    wusa /uninstall /kb:4577062 

    In the command, replace “4577062” for KB number that correspond to the update that you’re trying to uninstall. For example, if you’re trying to uninstall update KB4577062, then the number that you can have to use in the command is “4577062.”

  6. Click the Yes button.

  7. Continue with the on-screen directions (if applicable).

Once you complete the steps, the recently installed update will be removed from your computer fixing any issues as a result of the release.

If your computer won’t boot after installing KB4577062, you can remove update from the Advanced startup environment using these steps.

Download September 2020 update for Windows 10

These updates are available immediately, they’ll download and install automatically, but you can always force the update from Settings Update & Security > Windows Update and clicking the Check for updates button.
