Windows 10 build 20211.1005 releases to test servicing mechanism

Microsoft releases update to test pipeline servicing for large updates of Windows 10.

In addition to Windows 10 build 20211, Microsoft is now rolling out build 20211.1005 in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider Program as a cumulative update KB4581021.

According to the company, update KB4581021 doesn’t include any new changes. Instead, it’s a cumulative update meant to test the company’s test servicing pipeline with big updates and bumps the version number to 20211.1005.

Windows 10 build 20211 is the latest preview with new features and changes, including new search to list of file types, protocols, and apps in the Default apps settings pages, and there are new commands to mount and unmount physical drives to access Linux file systems using the Windows Subsystem for Linux 2.

The update is available immediately through the Dev Channel. This preview build will download and install automatically on your device, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & security > Windows Update, and clicking the Check for updates button.
