Join the live Microsoft Surface event tomorrow from New York City

Surface RT and Surface Pro Patch Tuesday Firmware update

There is no turning back, the Surface team, tomorrow May 20th, will finally take on the Apple’s iPad Mini, Kindle Fire, and the Google Nexus 7. There has been a lot Surface mini rumors for the past two years, but in less than 24 hours Microsoft will answer all of our questions at the next Surface event in New York City.

Although, Surface mini should be the highlight of the event, there are solid rumors about Microsoft planning to also unveil a new Surface Pro tablet. (Stay tune for updates!)

Surface mini

Tomorrow is the big day, as Microsoft is highly likely to reveal to the world the newest member of the Surface family, and the company will tout the device as the best note-taking tablet, because of the digital inking technology it will deliver. Specific tech specs about Surface mini are yet to be announced, but here is what we know:

  • 8-inch tablet
  • Qualcomm ARM processor
  • Windows RT 8.1
  • High quality stylus for natural handwriting
  • No kickstand like the other Surface members
  • New covers, which will function as kickstand.
  • Availability by the end of June

Surface Pro

Many reliable sources strongly suggest that Microsoft will also be launching a new Surface Pro — Although many websites are taking up on themselves to call this new tablet: “Surface Pro 3”, it’s still unclear if this tablet will be a replacement for the current Surface Pro 2 or if it will be a new model, like the mini. However this is what we know so far:

  • Smaller bezel
  • Larger screen, we could be seeing something in between of 12- to 13-inch tablet
  • Intel Core processor with models featuring Core i3, i5, and i7 with 4GB and 8GB of RAM
  • New covers in purple, black, cyan, and red
  • Thinner and lighter than the current Surface Pro 2

Specific tech specs for the new Surface Pro tablet are well guarded. So, we’ll have to wait until the event to get specifics on screen resolution, weight, battery life, and more.
