Microsoft’s Nokia Lumia 730/735, the selfie Windows Phone handsets announced

Nokia Lumia 730 dual-SIM and 735 LTE Windows Phone

IFA 2014 — Featuring a classic design, Microsoft introduced today the new Lumia 730 (dual-SIM) and Lumia 735 (4G/LTE) smartphones built for Skype calls and selfies. Right out off the box you’ll notice that these two new Microsoft handsets are thinner and lighter to the similar Lumia 920. Perhaps the most important feature worth noting is the 1080p full-HD 5-megapixel front-facing camera that has been carefully designed around the new selfie trend.

Both phones, the 730 and 735, are practically identical, the major difference is that the 730 works with dual SIM for markets where this feature is essential and the 735 can only hold one SIM with 4G/LTE connectivity.

These phones pack a full-HD 5-megapixel wide-angle front-facing camera with a focal length of 24mm, which the company says it helps to take better group pictures with friends and improves the experience making Skype calls.

Also the company will be shipping the phones with the new Lumia Selfie app and during Skype calls you’ll be able to “enjoy clear audio in noisy surroundings” with the built-in microphones and voice-processing technology. On selected markets the company is also adding a free 3-month of Skype Unlimited World subscription.

Tech specs

Apart from having great features for selfies, the Lumia 730/735 also pack a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, expandable to 128GB through microSD slot. They’re 4.7-inch handsets with a resolution of 1280 x 720 with Gorilla Glass 3, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, A-GPS and Glonass, BeiDou. Measurements are: 134.7 x 68.5 x 8.7mm, weight 133g; there is also 2220 mAh removable battery that the company claims all day battery life. And 3.5 mm AV connector (AHJ), Dual microphone, FM Radio, and Internet radio.

In the rear features a 6.7-megapixel camera with ZEISS optics and the front-facing camera is capable of taking pictures with a maximum resolution of 2596 x 1948 pixels.

The Lumia 730 and Lumia 735 come in green, orange, white, and black colors. There are interchangeable shells with different colors: bright orange, bright green, or dark grey. And they will come pre-loaded with Windows 8.1 Lumia Demin update.

Like the Lumia 830, the Lumia 730 and 735 are phones that you will NOT be able to buy in the United States. Both handsets will release this month globally, the Lumia 730 is priced at 199 Euros and the Lumia 735 is priced at 219 Euros before taxes and subsidies.
