Microsoft accidentally leaks its own upcoming Lumia handsets. While we’re expecting the company to launch the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL during the “Windows 10 devices” event next October 6, this morning the Microsoft Store online accidentally listed the two new phones confirming some important specifications we’ve already seen on different leaks.
The listing shows that both smartphones will be offered unlocked. In addition, we can now confirm that the Lumia 950 indeed is a 5.2-inch phone with 20-megapixel camera, and 32GB of internal storage with a microSD slot with support up to 2TB of additional storage. Then the Lumia 950 XL listing shows that the phone is a 5.7-inch device with the same camera and storage found in the 950 version.
The software giant will unveil both phones, alongside the new low-end Lumia 550, during the New York City event.
The Microsoft Store online only reveals partial information about the phones, but previously we have seen leaked documentation strongly suggesting that the upcoming Microsoft’s Lumia handsets will also offer support for Windows Hello through iris scanner hardware and support for Continuum for phones in Windows 10, which basically turns a traditional phone into a productive computer.
The Lumia 950 XL is also likely to include support for digital ink using the Surface Pen, and there will be a smart cover that sports a circular cut to access to notifications. Also, both phones will come with support for the new USB Type-C connector and Qi wireless charging.
Although, we have been hearing a lot of rumors about these phones, it seems that the leak in the store is more a marketing strategy than it’s an accident.
