Microsoft is preparing for a huge hardware launch event in October. According to a new report from The Verge, Microsoft is gearing up to launch the Surface Pro 4, two new Lumia phones, and a Microsoft Band 2.

The news was first spotted on the Chinese site WPDang, but it’s confirmed that the software giant will be launching a number of new hardware in October.

Microsoft could also be unveiling “one or two” new hardware in addition to the devices already mentioned, but this information has not been confirmed.

Now, according to the Chinese site, the company could be introducing a slimmer version of Xbox One, but it’s a rumor more than a fact, as such this plan is unlikely to happen. However, there is a good chance that Microsoft could be announcing more Surface hardware in addition to the new Surface Pro 4.

Last year, we were expecting a Surface Mini to be released alongside the Surface Pro 3, but the company killed the device at the eleventh hour.

The Microsoft event will be primarily to launch the Surface Pro 4 and the Lumia smartphones. The new Surface Pro 4 is likely not to be a lot different from the Surface Pro 3, as many people and companies have invested a lot of money on accessories, such as the docking station.

However, there will be noticeable changes on the tablet. For example, the company still can make its Surface Pro 4 thinner and lighter, and bump the display size and resolution. There are also information that suggests Microsoft could be including Windows Hello support to the Surface Pro 4, but chances are slim that the new Intel RealSense camera will fit into the device. Instead, the Surface keyboard could include a fingerprint scanner to make sign-in a lot easier.

We have been hearing about two new Lumia handsets: the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL, we even have some of the specification details. Now, we just have to wait for Microsoft to officially introduce the new handsets to see how they really look like and what the plan with Windows 10 Mobile is.

Finally, the Microsoft Band 2 is also expected to launch alongside the new smartphones and tablet. While we have heard rumors of Microsoft building a successor of its fitness band, there is no much information about the device, but given the feedback from the community, we can only expect the band to be better and improved.

At this time, there is no date or place for the October event as Microsoft has yet to make the official announcement. However, the company will be at the IFA conference in Berlin this September presenting Windows 10 hardware, but then Surface Pro 4 or Lumias are not expected to be part of event, instead the company will be holding its own press event to launch the new hardware.
