Whiteboard app for Windows 10

Microsoft is making available its collaborative Whiteboard app on Windows 10. The app has been available for several months, but as a preview, and now anyone can download it from the Microsoft Store. In addition, the company says that soon it’ll launch on iOS devices and a version designed for the web.

If you’re not familiar with this app, Whiteboard allows multiple users to annotate on a digital canvas in real-time across devices. It’s an app for productivity, it’ll come in handy to brainstorm projects, collaborate with co-workers, and outline process flows.

Anyone can use Whiteboard, but the real-time collaboration feature requires that at least one person signs in with an Office 365 account.

Whiteboard includes support for digital inking using a stylus, or you can use ink with your fingers, and it also supports geometry recognition, automatic table shading, and table conversion.

Alongside the iOS version of the app, Microsoft is also working on a Whiteboard version for Android devices. However, the company isn’t saying when it’ll be available, but in the meantime, the web version is expected to work on these devices.

While there isn’t a limit on the number of users that can collaborate, Microsoft is only allowing Office 365 commercial customers to access the web and iOS versions of Whiteboard. In the future, the app will integrate with the Microsoft Teams chap, and it’ll also be available for the Surface Hub.
