Minesweeper: The classic game came back Metro style to the Windows Store

Triggering a mine

Windows 8 only: I know people who most of their time in the computer is just about playing Microsoft Minesweeper, but with Windows 8, the software maker decided to remove the classic game. However, if you thought that the game retired, think again! Minesweeper still lives and now is in Metro style — I know, I know, it is actually Modern UI –, and you can keep playing countless hours by just clicking install from the Windows Store.

The new the 20+ years old game continues to features the adjustable difficulty, classic Minesweeper gameplay, and Microsoft has also added a brand new Adventure mode — About time! Also the game brings the new Daily Challenges where at the end of the month players can earn a badge and compete with friends.

Xbox integration is now part of the classic game, just log in with an Xbox account and start earning achievements, submit scores to the leaderboards, and track personal gameplay statics.

Finally Microsoft Minesweeper has also been reimagined for touch, which means that you can play the game with gestures in your new tablet.
