People report voice on TV ad is turning on their Xbox One consoles

Aaron Paul on Xbox One commercial

Microsoft isn’t new in getting famous people to promote a product. On the latest Xbox One ad, features Aaron Paul, the actor from the TV series Breaking Bad, sitting on a sofa, but as it turns out something really strange happens to real Xbox One owners when Paul shows off the Kinect voice command “Xbox One on”.

Apparently the voice command from the TV commercial is actually turning on viewers’ Xbox One consoles.

According to threads from NeoGAF, a member named “MrPressStart” says: “[…] Sitting here watching tv and the xbox commercial starring Aaron Paul came on. Next thing I know I am reaching for the controller to turn it off.”

On Twitter a few people are also reporting the same experience:

And on Reddit too, users are reporting Xbox One consoles suddenly are turning on while watching the TV ad.

Microsoft have yet to comment on the situation. I’m just glad that Microsoft didn’t add the voice command: “Xbox One self-destruct now”. If you needed a reason to buy the new Xbox One bundled that doesn’t include the Kinect sensor, this could be the one.
