Access denied when using /fixboot when using a startup usb or the builtin recovery. :(

Well, not working for me. Followed the directions as the computer exhibits all symptoms of a corrupted/missing MBR… continued attempts to restart, screen calling for repair, but no way to do so.

Followed your instructions up until
X: Sources>bootrec /fixboot
and got “Access is denied”

Sorta stumped as to next step. HDD has a great deal of website information I’d hate to lose for two websites, so don’t want to try another of the instructions fearing data loss.

Any pointers gratefully received!

I know this is old, but I’ll comment for other lost souls. Windows 10 versions later than 1903 (I believe), and 1909 at least have a bug, which throws the “acces denied” error at fixboot. You could either use a Windows 8.1 disk or an earlier build of Windows 10 OR use different commands altogether (bcdboot) as described on https://neosmart.net/wiki/fix-uefi-boot/#Fix_UEFI_Boot_in_Windows_8_81_or_10 (search that page for “access denied” for the quick fix.
