In reply to Pureinfotech. Thanks for the response. I actually used both and neither worked. I finally figured it out (kinda). I disabled the windows defender firewall on the server and it works fine. I need to go back later and figure out the setting to make it work without disabling the entire firewall. Thanks to all. Don

In reply to Donald Noble. Are you using a hostname or IP address? It's always best to IP address to access the resources on another computer.

Terrific article. I setup accordingly and both my windows 10 laptops can connect through the internet. However, neither can use the internet nor see any remote resources (server resources).

I have checked and unchecked the “Use default gateway on remote network.” several times. No change.

I have checked the firewalls on both sides and they are all fine. I tried typing the NetBios name and the IP address of the server and that does not connect.

I noticed that when I run ipconfig, the local gateway is missing on the VPN connection no matter what I do.

Is there any way to do this with other VPN types like IKEv2, L2TP or IPSec? I’m trying to get a connection from a Mac, which no longer supports PPTP because of security concerns.
