How to share pages using quick response code on Microsoft Edge

You can now create a quick response code to share pages with Microsoft Edge, and here's how to complete the task.

On Windows 10, the Chromium version of Microsoft Edge includes an option to share web pages and images using a quick response, which you can scan with any scanner app on your phone to access the site from another device quickly.

The option is available in the latest stable release of the web browser, but the ability to share images is still in development in the latest version in the Canary channel.

In this guide, you’ll learn the steps to share web pages or images using a quick response code on Microsoft Edge.

Enable sharing page via quick response Code on Microsoft Edge

To enable a quick response code to share a website, use these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Type the following path in the address bar and press Enter:

    edge://flags/#sharing-qr-code-generator
  3. Use the drop-down menu on the right of “Enable sharing page via quick response Code” and select the Enabled option.

  4. Click the Restart button.

Once you complete the steps, you can start sharing web pages or images using a QR code.

To create a quick response code to share a website, use these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Navigate to the website you want to share.

  3. Right-click anywhere on the page and select the Create quick response code for this page option.

    Quick tip: In the Canary version of Microsoft Edge, you can also right-click an image and select the “Create quick response code for this image” option to share an image.
  4. Confirm the quick response code.

After you complete the steps, you can use the quick response scanner app on your phone to scan the code and access the website. You may also take a picture or screenshot to print it out on a flyer that people can scan with their phones to access the page.
