Surface Book receives August 2018 firmware update

Microsoft pushes new update for its Surface Book 2-in-1 laptop. Here are all the new changes.

The original Surface Book is getting a new firmware update. In this release, Microsoft is making available a slew of fixes for the device, including mitigations for the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities on Intel processors.

The update is dated August 21, 2018, and it’s available for devices running the Windows 10 version 1709 and later. In addition to the mitigations, the firmware (via Thurrott) improves system stability, graphics performance, and addresses two specific security problems.

  • Intel AVStream Camera 2500: 30.15063.6.6082 improves system stability.
  • Intel HD Graphics 520: 24.20.100.6136 improves system stability.
  • NVIDIA GeForce GPU: 23.21.13.9140 improves graphics performance.
  • Surface Management Engine: 11.8.50.3448 improves system stability.
  • Surface UEFI: 91.2289.769.0 resolves potential security vulnerabilities, including Microsoft Security Advisory 180012 and 180013
  • Intel Precise Touch Device: 1.2.0.100 improves system stability.
  • Intel Display Audio: 10.25.0.8 improves system stability.
  • Microsoft Control Logic: 30.15063.6.6082 improves system stability.
  • Intel CSI2 Host Controller: 30.15063.6.6082 improves system stability.
  • Intel Imaging Signal Processor 2500: 30.15063.6.6082 improves system stability.
  • Intel Management Engine Interface: 11.7.0.1057 improves system stability.
  • Intel Serial IO 12C Host Controller: 30.100.1725.1 improves system stability.
  • Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) Audio Controller: 9.21.0.3347 improves system stability.
  • Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) OED: 9.21.0.3347 improves system stability.
  • Microsoft Camera Front: 30.15063.6.6082 improves system stability.
  • Microsoft Camera Rear: 30.15063.6.6082 improves system stability.
  • Microsoft IR Camera Front: 30.15063.6.6082 improves system stability.

The update should download and install automatically, but if you have not received it on your Surface, then you can go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and try to force the download manually.
