Surface Book October 2016 firmware update changes and fixes

Microsoft finally lists the changes for the Surface Book October firmware update.

Surface Book quietly recently received a new firmware update for October, but until now until now the fixes and improvements were unknown.

Today, Microsoft is listing the changelog for the October 2016 release. Overall, it’s a minor release with driver updates to prepare Surface Book to support “upcoming product releases” that affects the following devices:

  • Surface Embedded Controller Firmware
  • Surface System Aggregator Firmware
  • Surface UEFI
  • Marvell AVASTAR Bluetooth Radio Adapter
  • Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller

There is also a new update for the NVidia GeForce GPU to improve pen support in some applications.

The Surface Base Firmware update improves keyboard reliability when the device resumes operation from sleep.

And the Surface DTX improves clipboard and keyboard interoperability.

The Surface Book October 2016 firmware update is available immediately. The new update will download and install automatically, but you can always force the update from Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and clicking the Check for updates button.
