Surface Duo picks up second February 2021 update

Surface Duo receives an update with Android security fixes and stability improvements.

Microsoft is now rolling out a second update for Surface Duo devices in North America and Europe to improve stability, single tap experience, and problems with the Android operating system.

According to the device support website, the update was originally released on February 17, and it is meant for all devices locked and unlocked. On February 9, the company also released an update, but it was meant for locked devices from AT&T.

Here are all the improvements and fixes for the Duos in North America (version 2021.115.52):

  • Addresses scenarios outlined in the Android Security Bulletin – February 2020.
  • Surface Duo UI stability improvements.
  • Single tap touch experience improvements.

These are all the improvements and fixes for the Duos in Europe (version 2021.115.54):

  • Addresses scenarios outlined in the Android Security Bulletin – February 2020.
  • Surface Duo UI stability improvements.
  • Single tap touch experience improvements.

Also, for software version 2020.1211.87:

  • Addresses scenarios outlined in the Android Security Bulletin – December 2020 and January 2021.
  • Surface Duo UI stability improvements.
  • Adds the ability to add a caller to conference calls in certain conditions.
  • Improves audio quality when using speaker mode.
  • Touch stability improvements.

The update will download and install automatically, but you can install it manually from the Android update settings page if your Duo has not received it.

Starting February 18, Microsoft is expanding the availability of its Surface Duo in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Canada.

The Microsoft Surface Duo is a dual-screen device connected using a 360-degree hinge design that creates an 8.1-inch canvas that runs on Android 10, and you can order it now from the Microsoft Store starting at $950.
