Surface Pro 4 August 2017 firmware update fixes Windows Hello problem

Microsoft pushes firmware update for Surface Pro 4 devices to address Windows Hello issue.

Surface Pro 4 now can download a brand-new firmware update that fixes the issue that caused Windows Hello to stop working.

Recently, a firmware for Surface Pro 4 devices was made available, and soon after the release a number of users began to report issues with the Windows Hello camera.

Although, it’s not clear what actually caused the problem, a report from The Inquirer suggested that a driver included with the July firmware was the root of the issue, and simply rolling it back to its previous version resolved the issue.

However, starting with the August 3, 2017, firmware update, Microsoft is rolling out an update for the Surface Camera Windows Hello driver version 1.0.75.1 that resolves the problem.

If you use the Windows Hello on your Surface Pro 4 device, you should install this update immediately.

The new August 2017 firmware update for Surface Pro 4 should download and install automatically. However, if you have not received the update on your Surface, then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and try to force the download manually.
