Surface Pro 6, Surface Go, Laptop 2 get October 2018 firmware updates

Surface devices, including the Pro 6, Go, and Laptop 2 receive new update to improve stability, battery life, processor performance, and more.

Microsoft is now rolling out a new set of firmware updates for its newest Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2, and Surface Go devices running Windows 10 version 1803 (April 2018 Update) or version 1809 (October 2018 Update).  

The October 2018 firmware updates for Surface are minor, and they’re meant to improve system stability, battery life, processor, and sound.

Surface Pro 6

Here are all the new fixes and improvements in this new Surface Pro 6 update:

  • Surface Pen Firmware Update – System devices: 3.0.10.1 resolves intermittent pen top button click failure on Surface Pen with no clip-on Windows 10 October 2018 Update, version 1809.
  • Surface Pen Integration Device – Human Interface Devices: 1.0.9.0 enables firmware update to Surface Pen with no clip.
  • Surface System Aggregator – Firmware: 239.5.139.0 improves system stability.
  • Surface UEFI – Firmware: 234.2344.769.0 resolves an issue where processor speed may be capped at an unexpected low frequency.
  • Intel Smart Sound Technology OED: 9.21.00.3755 ensures music streaming services will not be interrupted after resume from sleep.
  • Intel Smart Sound Technology Audio Controller: 9.21.00.3755 ensures music streaming services will not be interrupted after resume from sleep.
  • Intel Display Audio: 10.25.00.10 resolves battery consumption issue associated with Windows 10 October 2018 Update.

Surface Laptop 2

Here are all changes for the Surface Laptop 2 update:

Surface Go

Here are the changes available with the Surface Go update:

  • Generic IO & Memory Access – System: 1.5.1.0 improves display calibration addressing incorrect power setting behaviors associated with Windows 10 October 2018 Update.

The update should download and install automatically, but if you have not received it on your Surface, then you can go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and try to force the download manually.
