Microsoft is now rolling out a firmware update for its Surface Pro (2017) tablet to continue to mitigate the Spectre and Meltdown security vulnerabilities with Intel’s processors.

The firmware is dated March 15, and according to the company, in addition to security fixes, it also brings improvements to battery life.

  • Surface System Aggregator Firmware – 234.2110.770.0 resolves potential security vulnerabilities, including Microsoft security advisory 180002.
  • Surface System Aggregator Firmware – 234.2110.1.0 improves battery reliability.

If you have a Surface Pro with LTE, these are the changes that you’re going to see:

  • Surface UEFI – 233.2110.770.0 resolves potential security vulnerabilities, including Microsoft security advisory 180002.
  • Surface System Aggregator Firmware – 233.2111.256.0 improves battery reliability.

The March 2018 firmware update for Surface Pro and the LTE model should download and install automatically. However, if you have not received the update on your Surface, then go to Settings > Update & security > Windows Update and try to force the download manually.
