A new Surface Pro X arrives with new hardware updates, a platinum color option, and $1499.99 price tag. The new device does not change the previous design, but it comes with new internals, such as the new Microsoft SQ 2 processor, which is a custom design chip based on the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 5G processor, and you can now get it in black or platinum finish.

According to the company, the new Pro X device should last up to 15 hours with a single charge, and since it has a new processor, performance should increase significantly across many Windows 10 applications.

The new Surface Pro X comes with the same 13-inch touchscreen PixelSense display as the previous version with options for up to 16GB and up to 512GB of internal storage. As for ports, the device includes two USB-C, a Surface connector for charging and data transfer, an expandable storage slot, and a nano-SIM slot to connect the device to an LTE service. However, there’s no 5G support in this version.

Alongside the new processor and color options, the company is also unveiling new signature keyboards that will come in red, blue, and silver with a compartment to store the Surface Slim Pen.

The company is also touting improvements on the ARM version of Microsoft Edge that makes the browser faster, and there’s a new version of Microsoft Teams that has been designed to run on the ARM-based processor. Furthermore, Microsoft says that it is expanding support for running x64 apps with x64 emulation, which is expected to release later in 2020.

The new Surface Pro X will be available on October 13, and you can preorder it now from the Microsoft Store. The model with the SQ2 processor, 16GB of memory, and 256GB of storage goes for $1499.99, while the model with 512GB of storage has a price tag of $1799.99.

Also, the company will continue to sell the older version of Surface Pro X featuring the SQ1 processor for $999.99 for the model that comes with 8GB of memory and 128GB of storage, and 1299.99 for the variant with 256GB of storage.
