Microsoft is now rolling out a new firmware update for its Surface Studio devices running the April 2018 Update, version 1803, or greater releases of Windows 10.
In this rollout, all Surface Studio 2 as well as devices from the first generation are getting a graphics update and improvements for the Surface Pen latency.
Surface Studio 2 September 2019 firmware
Here are all the new fixes and improvements in this new Surface Studio 2 update:
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 – Display adapters.
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 – Display adapters.
- 26.21.14.3140 improves Pen latency, and improves device stability with updated NVIDIA driver support.
Surface Studio September 2019 firmware
Here are all changes for the Surface Studio first generation:
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M – Display adapters.
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M – Display adapters.
- 26.21.14.3140 improves Pen latency and reliability and improves device stability with updated NVIDIA driver support.

Surface Pen Settings: 23.608.139.0 improves Pen latency and reliability.
The update should download and install automatically, but if you have not received it on your Surface, then you can go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and try to force the download manually.
